Assistant/Associate Professor Position, Accounting and Financial Management Services Area

Position Description

The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University invites applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Accounting and Financial Management Services Area. The position will commence on July 01, 2023. Appointment rank (Assistant or Associate) will depend on qualifications and research record. Exceptional candidates at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure may also be considered.

Applicants must have an area of specialization in accounting, broadly construed to encompass all fields in accounting such as auditing, financial reporting, managerial reporting, and taxation. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in teaching data analytics as related to Accounting. The areas of competence and all other areas of specialization are open. The successful applicant must have a PhD in accounting or related discipline by the time of the appointment. The applicant must also demonstrate a record of, or strong potential for, excellence in teaching and research and a willingness and ability to contribute to the Area and Faculty’s collegial and collaborative intellectual community as well as university-wide inclusive excellence goals and priorities. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the School’s undergraduate and graduate academic programs at both its Hamilton and Burlington locations.

The typical teaching load in the Accounting and Financial Management Services Area is 2 courses per term (4 per academic year), plus graduate supervision. The Area supports the School’s undergraduate and graduate programs which include the Bachelors in Commerce (BCom), Integrated Business and Humanities (IBH), Masters in Business Administration, and PhD programs.
