The Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences (HHNS) in The College of Biological Science at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track, teaching-focused position at the Assistant Professor level in the areas of Nutrition, Exercise, Metabolism, or Human Health.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in an area consistent with the fields of nutritional sciences, exercise physiology, metabolism, or human health and relevant postdoctoral or faculty experience, with a demonstrated ability to effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses in human health and lifestyle medicine related fields. The successful candidate will have a teaching-focused distribution of effort (minimum 4 courses/year) in human health-related fields, such as exercise physiology, cardiovascular physiology, metabolism, nutrition, biology of health and human performance. Courses may include teaching in the Honours BASc degree program in Kinesiology at the University of Guelph-Humber, and undergraduate and graduate courses in the Honours BSc programs in the Nutrition and Nutraceutical Sciences, Human Kinetics and Bio-Medical Science programs at the University of Guelph.
The applicant must also demonstrate a commitment to the scholarship and research mission of the Department. The successful candidate will be able to recruit and mentor diverse HQP interested in engaging in scholarship/research. The successful candidate may employ any number of scholarly approaches and innovative methodologies in fields relevant to HHNS which may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the scholarship of teaching and learning and the scholarship of knowledge translation and transfer. Curricular development, methods of delivery and assessment would also be highly appropriate. Scholarly approaches may also include mentoring of HQP including undergraduate and graduate students, as well as the development or revision of courses, and methods of delivery and assessment, particularly if this leads to publication/dissemination.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary department with ~28 faculty and an excellent record of scholarship/research in human health, exercise, nutrition, metabolism, biomechanics and physiology as well as teaching and learning, who employ a wide range of techniques and methodologies at multiple levels of biological organization to advance the fields of human health and nutritional sciences.

• Able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Human Health & Nutritional Sciences (HHNS) and, more broadly, in the College of Biological Science.
• Potential development and/or revision of courses, including collaboration with other faculty and staff for the development and/or revision of courses.
• Experience in curricular design, review and revision.
• Teaching statement (4 pages max):
o Describe an overall teaching philosophy.
o Describe all previous formal and informal education training and experience.
o Provide examples of specific teaching strategies that have been used effectively in previous courses and/or plan to use in future courses.
o Describe any experiences with experiential/work-integrated learning.
o Describe potential teaching contributions to the department.
• Evidence of strong potential to develop and contribute to scholarship and research in HHNS.
• Be able to recruit and mentor diverse HQP interested in engaging in scholarship/research including undergraduate and graduate students.
• Employ any number of scholarly approaches and innovative methodologies in fields relevant to HHNS which may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the scholarship of teaching and learning and the scholarship of knowledge translation and transfer, curricular development, methods of delivery and assessment, etc.
• Scholarship/research statement (2 pages max):
o Present a vision of the short and long-term goals of the scholarship/research activities.
o Explain how the scholarship/research activity plan will promote interdisciplinarity and collaboration within the Department.
o Describe how HQP will be included in scholarship/research activities.

It should also describe how High Quality Personnel will be included in your scholarship/research activities.
