The Faculty of Business and Information Technology at Ontario Tech University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in the area of Business and Information Technology to commence after July 1, 2019. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

The Faculty of Business & Information Technology (FBIT) offers a combination of business and IT programs with a strong emphasis on experiential learning opportunities (including capstone and internship) for job-ready graduates. Through its experiential learning programs, students get exposure to real world experiences, where they apply lessons learned in the classroom to the challenges of organizational life.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the instruction and management of the Faculty’s Experiential Learning courses. Applicants should possess a Masters or a Ph.D degree in IT or Business. We are seeking applicants with a strong academic background and demonstrated achievement in both teaching and industry experience in the intersection of business and IT with a broad perspective of IT, Game Development and various Commerce disciplines such as Human Resources, Accounting, Marketing, Finance etc. In addition, relevant industrial experience, university level teaching experience, and experience in online and hybrid course creation and delivery, professional development coaching, design thinking, or project management skills are considered assets.

Duties will include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops, preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to student inquiries, maintaining regular office hours, and invigilating tests and examinations. The duties will also include review of clients’ project scope, and determine feasibility, deliverables and enhancement of student-industry engagement opportunities.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 70% Teaching, 20% Service, and 10% Other workload each year.

In keeping with our technology-enhanced learning environment, strong computer skills are essential, and experience with Blackboard is an asset. In addition, a proven commitment to providing innovative and inclusive teaching strategies is required as is evidence of an ability to work in a collaborative environment. Excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships with a range of faculty, staff and students are essential.
