Assistant Professor - Business Planning and Entrepreneurship

University of New Brunswick

The Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton campus, invites applications for a tenure-track position in the area of Entrepreneurship and Business Law. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence as of January 1, 2020, or as soon thereafter as possible. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Applicants must have a PhD or DBA in Entrepreneurship and/or Innovation or a closely related field and at least hold an LLB or JD degree.

Applicants who are ABD at the time of application will be considered but must demonstrate that their completion date will precede the start date for the appointment.

The position primarily entails teaching and coordinating of the instruction of a first year project-based course in which students create and validate a business concept and develop a business plan. It may also involve teaching courses on business law. Preference will be given to candidates with startup experience and expertise that spans and integrates the two fields of Entrepreneurship and Business Law, such as in venture capital deal structuring, term sheets, setting up business forms, and IP management and commercialization.

The successful candidate must have a demonstrated record of excellence in university teaching and research or evidence of the potential to develop such a record. Teaching assignments will primarily be at the undergraduate but could also be at the graduate level.

The FBA is innovative in its programs, curriculum design and outreach activities. It has more than 840 students in the undergraduate program and 100 students in the graduate program.
