ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, CHINESE STUDIES (Limited Term)

Dalhousie University

The Chinese Studies Program in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Dalhousie University invites applications for a 12-month Limited-Term Appointment in Chinese Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2021 (subject to budgetary approval).

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Chinese/East Asian Studies or a closely related field with a substantial record of research and teaching experience in Chinese language (Mandarin), literature, and culture and possess native or near-native fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English. Demonstrated competence in Mandarin Chinese language pedagogy is paramount; experience of innovation in the area of teaching and learning is also an asset. The successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate level, have an active program of research and publication, and should be committed to participating in administrative service. The candidate will teach Mandarin Chinese language courses as well as culture and literature courses taught in English. We seek a candidate willing to make significant contributions to the growth of our program. Chinese Studies offers a wide range of courses to over 300 students a year; students have the possibility of earning a Minor in Chinese Studies.
