The Department of Medicine of McGill University invites applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff as a clinician-researcher at the rank of Assistant Professor. The incumbent is expected to assist in the establishment of an academic program in innovation of care and services to older adults in the Division of Geriatric Medicine at the Jewish General Hospital. The Department of Medicine is a leader in academic medicine, our educational and research missions support excellent and innovative clinical programs across our teaching hospitals. The Jewish General Hospital is one of McGill’s major teaching hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.
The job duties will include rounding on the clinical teaching units, covering consult services, attending in outpatient clinics and taking evening and weekend on call duties in Geriatric Medicine. The candidate is also expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (teaching and supervision of clinical trainees, graduate students and involvement in academic and administrative committees) and will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in these activities.
Qualifications and Education requirements
Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent training in Epidemiology as well as an MD degree, with an expertise in the organization of care and services to older adults. Clinical experience and clinical research activity related to the care of elderly people visiting emergency department is mandatory. Candidates must have completed subspecialty training in Geriatric Medicine, as well as be eligible for licensure in Quebec and certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec. Applicants should also have experience in conducting clinical studies.
Candidates should have strong leadership qualities, a proven track record in clinical and evaluative research, and experience in clinical service and training of students, residents and fellows. All candidates should be fluent in English and would benefit from a working knowledge of French.
