Tenure-Track Position in Innovation in Construction Engineering and Management
The Department of Building, Civil, and Environmental Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of Construction Engineering and Management (CEM) with specialized knowledge in construction of large-scale intelligent facilities and expertise in one or more of the following areas: smart industrialized and hybrid construction, digital twinning applications, remote sensing and digital-physical integration for construction management, the applications of virtual and augmented reality in management of construction sites, construction automation, and applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in construction, digitalization of construction, integrated project delivery, supply chain management. Duties include research, teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and service to the institution. This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, but exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor level may also be considered.
Qualifications and Assets:
Candidates must have completed their PhD in Construction Engineering and Management, or closely related areas in Civil Engineering, or be near completion at the start date of the appointment. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association, preferably in Quebec, is required.
The main criteria for selection are scholarly and teaching excellence. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications, industrial application of their research activities, and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Industrial experience will be a definite asset. The Department values diversity among its faculty and strongly encourages applications from women and members of underrepresented groups. The language of instruction at Concordia is English, but a working knowledge of French is an asset.
As one of the largest cities in North America, Montreal has a strong construction industry, and the candidate will have potential opportunities to establish rapport with the local industry and build a highly collaborative and impactful research program.

Applicants must explain how their expertise supports specialization in construction of large-scale intelligent facilities and how such expertise complements existing research and teaching skillsets of the CEM group in the Department.

The Department of Building, Civil, and Environmental Engineering has a faculty complement of 42 professors active in various areas of building, civil and environmental engineering and its strength has rapidly grown in recent years. The Department offers PhD, masters and bachelor degrees in Building Engineering, Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering. The Civil Engineering undergraduate program was recently ranked among the top 20 civil engineering programs in the world.
