Assistant Professor (Grant Tenure Track)

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of British Columbia, is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant Professor (grant tenure track) position in the Division of Gynaecologic Oncology, based at Vancouver General Hospital working in collaboration with the BC Cancer Agency. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2018, or a date to be mutually agreed upon.
This position is funded by OVCARE. It is expected that the incumbent will be very involved with the BC Gynecologic Cancer Research team’s initiatives are aimed at diving deeper on all fronts of gynecologic cancer research – the breadth of the mandate reflects our commitment to ensure that all women in every region of the province have equitable and standardized health care that meet their individual needs. The current leadership team is comprised of 6 Faculty members with primary or secondary appointments in the Department – Gavin Stuart, Dianne Miller, Lori Brotto, David Huntsman, Gina Ogilvie, & Deborah Money. As this initiative evolves, we look forward to developing new models of partnership and collaboration with other Departments, Faculties and Schools.
We are seeking a candidate with scholarly interest and expertise in the broad area of gynaecologic cancers and health informatics. Candidates with a biostatistics background with a focus on computational statistics and machine learning are strongly preferred. We are seeking candidates with experience in ‘omics based biomarker development research. Experience in designing and overseeing large, high-dimensional and complex integrated patient datasets is a requirement. Demonstrated experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment, and evidence of engagement in national and international gynecologic cancer research collaborations and/or consortia are required.
Candidates must have a completed Ph.D. in Statistics and postdoctoral training in a translational research environment with a strong record of research productivity and commitment to student mentoring and supervision.
The candidate will be expected to develop a thriving, extramurally funded research program. As a junior faculty member within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in minimal teaching and service obligations, at the discretion of the Division Head of Gynaecologic Oncology.
The incumbent will report to the Head of the Division of Gynaecologic Oncology and to the Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UBC.
