Assistant Professor in Clinical Exercise Physiology, Department of Kinesiology

McMaster University

The Department of Kinesiology in the Faculty of Science at McMaster University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of Clinical Exercise Physiology with a focus on Cardiovascular Health Across the Lifespan.

Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant discipline at the time of application and appropriate training in human cardiovascular physiology, including the application of exercise from a clinical perspective in conditions of chronic disease and disability. We seek a colleague who will develop a translational research program that blends basic scientific inquiry with applications that seek to understand human health and performance. We are especially interested in applicants whose expertise and interests would complement existing areas of faculty strength and enable them to bridge traditional disciplinary boundaries in both research and teaching.

Applicants must demonstrate evidence of excellence in research and teaching, and have a commitment to service including community engagement and knowledge translation. Requirements include a strong record of peer-reviewed publications, and the ability to establish and maintain an externally-funded independent research program. Postdoctoral training is advantageous, as is evidence of pedagogical innovation and a commitment to development as an educator. The potential to conduct research on successful aging, facilitate collaborative links with other units including the McMaster Physical Activity Centre of Excellence, and qualification as a Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology certified instructor, will be deemed assets. Duties will include teaching and research supervision at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and service to the institution.

The Department of Kinesiology currently has 16.5 full-time faculty members and approximately 850 full-time undergraduate and 50 graduate students. We offer an Honours B.Sc.
