The Department of Psychology in the Faculty of Health at York University invites highly qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor position in Clinical Neuropsychology. This is a tenure-track appointment to the Professorial Stream to commence on July 01, 2024.
We encourage applications from scientist‐practitioners with a strong program of research in adult or lifespan disorders of brain and behaviour as well as expertise in neuropsychological assessment and/or intervention methods. As the only dual-accredited (Clinical/Clinical Neuropsychology) program in Canada, applicants with training in both Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology are encouraged to apply.

The Clinical Neuropsychology stream within the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program is accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association and includes 6 core faculty members, with 3 specializing in adults and 3 specializing in child/lifespan disorders. Campus resources include the York University Psychology Clinic as well as a state‐of‐the‐art MRI facility. Off‐campus affiliations with top‐notch healthcare and research settings are extensive.

York’s commitment to translational research is underscored by the launch of the Connected Minds initiative, a $318.4-million program to mobilize transdisciplinary expertise towards developing socially responsible technologies. In addition, York’s commitment to basic and applied neuroscience research is reflected in the recent establishment of the Centre for Integrated and Applied Neuroscience, dedicated to the application of neuroscience discovery to address health, education, industry and other global challenges.


Candidate Qualifications:

Degree: PhD in Clinical Psychology from an accredited clinical training program with specialization in clinical neuropsychology, or equivalent post‐doctoral training. Eligibility for registration in the province of Ontario in Clinical Neuropsychology is required.
Scholarship:
• A coherent and well-articulated program of research in adult or lifespan disorders of brain and behaviour and specialization in neuropsychological assessment and/or intervention methods.
• A record or evident promise of generating innovative, substantive, rigorous, and as appropriate, externally funded research.
• A record or evident promise of making influential contributions and demonstrating excellence in the field (e.g., publications in relevant peer reviewed journals, scholarly presentations at national and international meetings, research awards and recognitions).

Teaching:

• A record or evident promise of excellence in teaching and dedication to students (e.g., teaching undergraduate and graduate academic and clinical/skills‐oriented courses and in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate student research and practice in clinical neuropsychology. Pedagogical innovation in high priority areas such as experiential education, community engaged learning and technology enhanced learning is preferred.).
• Suitability for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, given that the position will involve graduate teaching and supervision.
