The Department of Curriculum and Instruction invites applications for a tenure track preferential position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the areas of Science Education and Environmental Education. These areas are part of a strong undergraduate teacher preparation program with introductory science methods courses as well as elective courses in Environmental Education. This position offers unique opportunities at both undergraduate and graduate levels for enhancing and creating science education and environmental education programs.

Curriculum and Instruction is a dynamic department committed to promoting the diverse interests and expertise of its faculty. Department members engage in a broad range of multidisciplinary and collaborative research and are dedicated to providing exemplary teaching for learners. In addition to undergraduate teacher education programs, the department offers Master of Education, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Philosophy programs. Faculty are also active in service to the university and larger community.

Responsibilities will include:
• Teaching undergraduate courses in elementary and middle years science education and environmental education;
• Enhancing and engaging in curriculum development (undergraduate and graduate) in science education and environmental education;
• Establishing an active body of research in science education and environmental education; and,
• Contributing to university, professional, and community engaged service.
Criteria for the position:
1. A completed (or ABD) PhD or EdD in science education (overlap with environmental education would be an asset);
2. Successful classroom teaching experience in science education and environmental education at the elementary or middle school level;
3. Experience in working collaboratively with diverse school populations and/or community groups to support the development of innovative teaching practices in science education and environmental education;
4. Post-secondary teaching experience (particularly in pre-service teacher education programs);
5. An active research program in science education and environmental education; and,
6. Commitment to enacting inclusive practices within diverse populations.
