The Department of Automotive and Mechatronics Engineering invites applications, from qualified individuals, for a tenure-track or tenured position at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of Mechatronics Engineering. All applicants with expertise in Mechatronics-relevant fields will be considered. Preference will be given to those applicants that can communicate how their research programs and teaching expertise will help propel the Automotive and Mechatronics department at Ontario Tech University forward. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July 1, 2023, or as soon as it is filled.

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct active and innovative research programs and to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless technology, Ontario Tech seeks faculty who strive to explore and develop new pedagogies. Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of Mechatronics Engineering or a related field; a strong academic background; an established record of excellence in innovative and experimental research leading to peer assessed publications; and be registered, or eligible for and committed to registration, as a Professional Engineer in Ontario. Candidates must also demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions. In addition, candidates should possess excellent English language skills demonstrating an ability to ensure strong, two-way communications on an ongoing basis that contribute to collaborative/collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the community at large.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% research, 40% teaching and 20% service workload each year.

The Department of Automotive and Mechatronics Engineering (AME) offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Automotive Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering. This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association. The collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the tenured and tenure track collective agreement.
