This is a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level in the Faculty of Education. The successful candidate will promote a holistic approach to learning that acknowledges the role of teacher education in fostering stewards of the profession who have a keen capacity for critical thinking, social justice, and the dignity of all people. Experience in creating a welcoming space for Indigenous students would be an asset.
This faculty position involves teaching, service, and research and scholarship. The expectation is that the successful candidate will teach in both the current elementary pre-service teacher education program as well as the future secondary and Master’s programs. They will also be expected to contribute to the academic life of St. Mary’s University through both service and an active program of research and scholarship.
Earned doctorate in education with a focus on one of the following: Catholic Education and/or Science Education. ABD at the time of application will be considered, however earned doctorate at time of hire is strongly recommended. Bachelor of Education degree is required, with relevant and successful experience in K-12 schools. Evidence of scholarly research should be commensurate with experience. A demonstrated commitment to a holistic approach to student success is a necessity.
