The School of Human Kinetics and Recreation offers undergraduate programs in Kinesiology, Physical Education and Recreation with Co-operative Education options. The School’s Kinesiology and Physical Education programs have both been accredited by CCUPEKA and all programs have undergone recent growth. The School was the first in Canada to offer a Master of Physical Education in an online format and has a growing Master of Science in Kinesiology program.

Qualifications

The School of Human Kinetics and Recreation invites applicants for an Assistant Professor position in the area of Health and Physical Education. A completed or earned doctorate is required for the appointee to receive the rank of Assistant Professor and to be in a tenure-track position. (If a candidate has not completed an earned doctorate, he/she shall be appointed to a regular term, non-renewable three-year appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. If the candidate completes all requirements of the doctorate during the first 24 months of the term appointment, he/she shall begin a tenure-track appointment following completion of the requirements of the degree).

Duties

The successful candidate will build a strong program of research, supervise graduate students and teach graduate and undergraduate courses. Teaching expertise in health and physical education pedagogy/curriculum is preferred. Teaching expertise in health promotion, sport or recreation administration/management, or coaching will also be considered.

Preference will be given to candidates with a well-articulated research program and a strong potential for securing research funding. Post-doctoral experience and/or teaching experience in K-12 schools would be an asset.
