Assistant Professor, Psychology

ABOUT ST. MARY’S UNIVERSITY:

St. Mary’s University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor, to commence July 1, 2019. Founded in the Catholic intellectual tradition, St. Mary’s is an innovative teaching and research university that provides accredited and highly valued degrees in the Liberal Arts, Sciences and Education. Located on a historic site in Calgary, Alberta, our students are inspired to combine academics with a passionate commitment to ethics, social justice and respect for diversity of opinion and belief. St. Mary’s has over 1000 full- and part-time students, 80 full- and part-time faculty, and an average class size of 25.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will have a background in the broad area of applied/counselling Psychology. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in statistics and research methodology, introductory psychology, as well as courses related to the candidate’s area of expertise including at least one of the following: cross-cultural psychology, forensic psychology, community psychology, trauma, communication and counselling skills, theories of counselling. This is a research stream appointment and the teaching load is 3/3.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must have a PhD in Psychology by the date of appointment. The successful candidate will display evidence of excellence in teaching and a record of research and publication or strong potential.
COMPENSATION:

St. Mary's University offers a competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits program. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
