Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream - Canadian Politics & Democracy

The Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time, continuing teaching-stream position in the area of Canadian Politics and Democracy. The appointment will be the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an expected start date of July 1, 2024, or shortly thereafter.
Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Political Science or a related discipline by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree granting program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.
The successful candidate will focus on Canadian Politics and will regularly teach core courses in Canadian Politics at the undergraduate level. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with interests in experiential learning and with innovative pedagogical approaches to the fundamentals of democratic citizenship, as well as a commitment to pedagogical development, such as discipline-based scholarship, pedagogical research, and/or professional work relevant to Canadian Politics.
Evidence of excellence in teaching and a commitment to excellent pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below) as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing.
Candidates are also expected to show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment demonstrated through the application materials.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
