Sessional Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in Psychotherapy

The Department of Psychology, in the Faculty of Health at York University invites highly qualified applicants for a Sessional Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream position in Psychotherapy. This is a Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA) to the teaching stream for a three-year term to commence July 1, 2024.

The successful applicant will teach undergraduate courses in psychotherapy and counselling and support the Department’s curriculum development. Candidate Qualifications:

Degree: PhD or EdD with a focus in adult psychotherapy or counselling: PhD in psychology, psychotherapy, or counselling is preferred; applicants with comparable degrees will be considered. Applicants must be a member in good standing of a regulatory college whose registrants may practice psychotherapy and must be authorised to autonomously practice the controlled act of psychotherapy in Ontario. While candidates can be a member in good standing of any college in Ontario regulating the practice of psychotherapy, preference will be given to those registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

Teaching:

• A record or evident promise of excellence in teaching and dedication to students (e.g., teaching accomplishments, pedagogical innovations, program creation or implementation, student, and peer evaluations).
• Suitability for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, given that the position may involve graduate teaching and supervision.
Additional: Applicants must demonstrate excellence, or clear potential for excellence, in teaching psychotherapy; previous experience and skill in curriculum development; excellence, or clear potential for excellence, in the provision of clinical supervision. Applicants must bring a theoretical and practical orientation to psychotherapy curriculum, teaching and learning; and demonstrate good judgment and a reflective approach to innovation in teaching.
