Assistant Professor, Teaching Track, W Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology
McMaster University’s Faculty of Engineering invites applications for a teaching-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the W Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology, located on the main university campus. 2020. It is possible that there will be other relevant teaching responsibilities for the successful candidate in other Faculty programs, such as INNOVATE and ENGINEER courses.
The successful applicant must have or be very near completion of a PhD in engineering or a related discipline, by the time of the appointment. The applicant must also demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching and research and a willingness and ability to contribute to the department’s collegial and collaborative intellectual community as well as university-wide inclusive excellence goals and priorities. The ideal candidate will also possess extensive industrial experience in developing and deploying new high-tech products, with a strong preference for software-heavy products or smart systems. The ability to function in academic, business/industry and public sector environments, and being invested in experiential and problem-based learning is important, as is openness to the role of inquiry in the classroom. Applicants will be expected to actively supervise graduate students and aspiring innovators, foster existing or new collaborations with internal and external stakeholders in the local innovation ecosystem, as well as seek externally funded research program. Evidence of proven leadership skills, innovation credentials in digitalization and productization of digital technologies, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures is required. Registration as a Professional Engineer of Ontario or eligibility to acquire registration in Canada would be a strong asset.
