DUTIES
Thompson Rivers University (https://www.tru.ca) is a uniquely comprehensive, student-focused institution built on over 40 years of excellence in post-secondary education and training. TRUs spectacular main campus is located in Kamloops, BC (https://www kamloops.ca), just a four hour drive from Vancouver, in the heart of the southern BC interior. The Department of Psychology is a thriving department that offers a BA with a Major or Minor in Psychology. The department also has an Honours program supported by several strong research programs. Undergraduate research, innovative teaching, and faculty-student interactions are highly valued and are a draw for many students and faculty.

We are excited to be building our capacity for programming in clinical psychology and invite applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology. This position balances research and teaching and is dependent on budgetary approval. The appointment is scheduled to commence on January 1, 2025. A later start date would also be considered.

The candidate should have demonstrated potential to develop a productive research program in clinical psychology that includes undergraduate students as collaborators. The successful candidate will be expected to apply and be competitive for external funding, and mentor students in our vibrant Honours program. They will join a cluster of faculty contributing to program growth in the area of clinical, counselling, and applied psychology. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. from an accredited Clinical training program (including an APA- or CPA-accredited internship) before commencing the position.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, primarily upper level courses in the area of clinical psychology. The candidate may also have the opportunity to coordinate the Honours Seminar. The successful candidate will be committed to scholarly teaching with the potential to be an outstanding teacher.

The successful candidate will contribute to sustaining the collegiality and reputation of the department, with service responsibilities to support Departmental initiatives initially, and expanding to include activities to support Divisional and Institutional objectives.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to engage diverse student populations. Candidates are invited to describe their approach to considering equity, diversity, and inclusion in their research, teaching, and service in their application.

QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, from an accredited clinical training program (including an APA- or CPA-accredited internship), obtained by January 1, 2025. Applicants with demonstrated equivalent training and experience are welcome to apply and are invited to explain in their cover letter how their training and experience is equivalent to the required qualifications.
