Associate Professor - Game Theory and Mechanism Design

The Department of Economics in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto, St. George campus invites applications for a tenured appointment in Game Theory and Mechanism Design at the rank of Associate Professor. The appointment will be effective September 1, 2020, or shortly thereafter.

Applicants must have earned a PhD degree in Economics, with a demonstrated exceptional record of excellence in research and teaching in Game Theory and Mechanism Design. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing departmental strengths. Candidates will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. The position comes with undergraduate and graduate teaching responsibilities. More broadly, candidates are expected to contribute actively to the intellectual life of the department.

The successful candidate will have an established reputation in research with internationally recognized scholarship in Game Theory and Mechanism Design. Evidence of excellence in research is required, as demonstrated by the submitted research statement, prestigious accolades from within the field, evidence of an externally funded program of research, a publication record in top-ranked Economics and field-relevant academic journals, presentations at major conferences, other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, and strong endorsements by referees of high standing.

Evidence of excellence in teaching will be provided through teaching accomplishments (which must include PhD supervision), the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including a strong teaching statement, sample course syllabi, and the teaching evaluations, as well as strong letters of reference.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
