Nipissing University sits on the territory of Nipissing First Nation, the territory of the Anishnabek, within lands within the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850.

Nipissing University invites applications for the position of Associate Vice-President, Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies. The ideal candidate will have the energy and resourcefulness to lead and innovate, and the experience and judgment necessary to build an exciting and sustainable future for the University by promoting the highest standards in academic innovation, research and scholarship, and intellectual and creative activity. The Associate Vice-President, Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies, reporting to the Provost and Vice-President Academic, is a member of the academic leadership team of Nipissing University. The AVP plays a key role in developing research policy, advancing innovative research, and fostering excellence in graduate education, as well as working externally with industry and community partners, government agencies and granting councils, foundations, and other research institutions to grow Nipissing’s research enterprise and identify future opportunities. The AVP is appointed for a term of five years with the possibility of re-appointment or extension and will hold a tenured position following the appointment.

The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in a discipline appropriate for an academic appointment at the rank of associate or full professor position. They will also have comprehensive knowledge of the university research-funding environment and of key research programs and funding agencies at the provincial, federal, and international levels. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2024.
