Founded in 1839, Mount Allison University has earned a reputation as Canada’s top primarily undergraduate university, offering degrees in Arts, Science, Commerce, Fine Arts, and Music. Now, Mount Allison is seeking an innovative, energetic, and highly collaborative leader to lead a 21st century Faculty of Arts by strengthening established programs and by leading, enabling, and supporting the development of unique interdisciplinary programming.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic and Research, and working and consulting with internal and external stakeholders, the Dean of Arts is responsible for developing and executing a vision for the Faculty of Arts. The Dean of Arts will provide leadership to the administration of Faculty academic programs and budgets, mentor and evaluate colleagues and staff, and serve on key University committees. The Dean of Arts will collaborate with a diverse and engaged group of colleagues and students in a variety of disciplines, ranging from women’s and gender studies to fine arts to classics, and guide the arts and humanities at Mount Allison into the future

As the ideal candidate, you bring a strong record of teaching, research, scholarship and administrative leadership experience in the Arts, in addition to a doctoral or relevant terminal degree in your discipline. You are an excellent communicator with a collegial leadership style who invites and authentically listens to diverse perspectives in order to build consensus. You are known for your creative, entrepreneurial and solutions-oriented approach. You are a leader with high integrity and you demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all that you do. You believe deeply in the value of an arts education and you see the incredible opportunities for Arts, Humanities, and Fine Arts programs in today’s shifting global social, economic and political climate.
