Definite Term Lecturers, Electrical and Comuter Engineering

The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo invites applications for three (3) full-time and two (2) part-time Definite-Term Lecturer positions with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2019. While the initial appointment is for a three-year Definite-Term Lecturer, with the possibility of a renewal for another three years, the appointed Lecturer may be considered for an on-going appointment thereafter as Continuing Lecturer if he/she demonstrates outstanding performance in teaching and service. Candidates should possess a doctoral degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Preference will be given to candidates who have exceptional teaching skills and a demonstrated ability to teach large engineering courses, including first-year courses and service courses, effectively. This position requires a willingness to explore and be conversant in the many sub-disciplines of electrical and computer engineering, and the opportunities for students provided through the department, faculty, university, and community at large. It requires a willingness to be involved in student outreach activities, and an interest in knowing and engaging students so as to guide them to good learning strategies and to help them realize their full potential. The successful candidate should have a positive outlook and be committed to professional development and community building. Over time, there may exist opportunities to serve in other capacities, teach at other levels in the academic programs, or supervise undergraduate student projects.
Based on qualifications and rank hired, annual full time salary will typically range from $95,000 to $115,000. For exceptionally qualified candidates, a higher annual salary will be considered. The successful candidate will be required to have an engineering license for practice in Canada or to apply for an engineering license or limited engineering license within five years.
