Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering

Lakehead University

Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for a nine (9) month Limited Term Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. The position will commence on August 1, 2019.

The Department offers an accredited Bachelor of Engineering degree as well as MSc and PhD programs in Civil Engineering. The successful candidate will teach three full-course equivalents (six half-credit courses) during the appointment period. The course assignments will include open channel flow, foundation engineering, soil mechanics, and surveying.

The preferred candidates will have:

1. An earned Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from a recognized university with a specialization in the general area of geotechnical engineering and/ or hydraulic, a baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering, post-doctoral or other relevant experience is an asset; and
2. A demonstrated commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level and evidence of an effective and established teaching record and of educational leadership;

Preference will be given to the candidates registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
