Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering (Barrie)
The Department of Electrical Engineering at Lakehead University invites applications for two (2) tenure track appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor. These positions will be at the Barrie Campus as part of the Lakehead University-Georgian College (LU-GC) partnership program. The position will commence on August 1, 2019.
While the Department encourages all eligible applicants with an earned PhD or close to completion by August 1, 2019 in Electrical and Computer Engineering or closely related disciplines to apply, its needs in research are in areas of Electrical Engineering such as: Communications; Digital Systems including advanced computer architectures, Embedded systems; Autonomous Systems including intelligent systems; Circuit design including VLSIC; Biomedical instrumentation and robotics. Relevant industrial and practical experience will be an asset.
The Department offers a unique accredited Bachelor of Engineering program at its Thunder Bay campus as well as a course-based and thesis Master’s Program and a Ph.D program. At the Barrie, Ontario campus, in partnership with Georgian College, a new undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering was established in 2017.
The successful candidate is expected to teach existing undergraduate and graduate courses, develop new courses, and build a strong research program in the Electrical Engineering Department, including securing external funding and generating archival publications. Flexibility in undergraduate teaching of a diversity of courses is expected in the new program at Barrie. Service to the department, faculty, and university is expected. Graduate program extension between the Barrie and Thunder Bay campus is planned with live, interactive video conferencing of graduate course offerings from both ends.
Acquiring Professional Engineering registration in a province of Canada is a mandatory condition for employment in this position.
