Director of the School of Physiotherapy

Dalhousie University invites applications for the position of Director of the School of Physiotherapy, Assistant Dean, Faculty of Health, with the appointment expected to take effect July 1, 2019. The associated academic appointment is expected to be tenure stream at the rank of Associate or Full Professor depending on qualifications.

The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent research degree) in a relevant discipline and be eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in research and academic administrative leadership, with experience in ensuring high quality educational programs, vigorous and creative research, and scholarship. The position of Director will provide academic, research and administrative leadership in accordance with the principles of academic governance and is responsible for fiscal and human resources administration. The position of Director will promote excellence in research, education, and professional activity; success in establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders internal and external to the University is also essential. Teaching achievement, an externally funded research program, and/or a substantial contribution to physiotherapy through scholarship that advances the discipline of physiotherapy is essential.

Successful candidates may pursue a program of funded research. Experience in a previous academic appointment in a School/Department of Physiotherapy with a graduate education program is desirable, as is interest in and experience with developing interprofessional collaboration and interdisciplinary research initiatives.

The Director reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Health and provides academic, research and administrative leadership in accordance with the principles of academic governance and is responsible for administrative and financial matters.

The School of Physiotherapy is one of 10 units within the Faculty of Health, committed to achieving five strategic directions including engaging in transformational teaching and learning, growth of the research enterprise, fostering citizenship, cultivating partnerships and mobilizing supports for innovation.
