Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for one tenure-track appointment in Accounting at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Business Administration. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence on August 1, 2019.

The Thunder Bay campus of the Faculty of Business Administration is accredited by Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPA).

Review of applications will begin on June 3, 2019 and continue until the position is filled. The electronic application (in the form of one PDF document) should include: a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness (including a statement of teaching philosophy, course outlines and teaching evaluations for previously-taught courses), a statement of a research plan (current and future interests), copies of the three most significant publications, and the names and contact information of three references.

The position will involve:
(i) An active program of scholarly research;
(ii) A commitment to teaching a range of undergraduate and graduate accounting courses, preferably in financial accounting;
(iii) Supervision of Masters students’ research;
(iv) Service contributions to the Faculty and the University;
(v) Participation in curriculum development and program improvement initiatives.

Preferred candidates will have a Ph.D./DBA (or close to completion) in Accounting from a school recognized by Canadian universities. A CPA designation (or eligibility and a willingness to earn the designation) will be considered an asset.

Applicants with a Master’s Degree may be considered, subject to the following requirements:
(i) An earned Master’s Degree in Business from an accredited university recognized by Canadian Universities.
(ii) A professional accounting designation.
(iii) Relevant experience teaching in the areas of financial accounting, and auditing.
(iv) A demonstrated potential for scholarly research and a commitment to teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels
(v) A willingness to work towards a Ph.D. or DBA in an area of business.
