Finance Instructor

THE UNIVERSITY OF LETHBRIDGE invites applications for a full time three-year term appointment at the Instructor III rank in the Finance area on our Calgary Campus beginning December 1, 2024.
Individuals should have experience teaching or working in investments and corporate finance. In addition, individuals with experience in teaching or working in some combination of personal finance, financial analysis, international finance, or fintech will be of particular interest. Ideally, individuals should have a demonstrated interest in the incorporation of technology or sustainability concepts in their teaching.
Instructor responsibilities may include, but not be limited to: instruction and assessment; course content updating; pedagogical and assessment improvements; course and curriculum development; active involvement in School and Finance Area governance; and other service activities such as case competition coaching, participation in student related functions, and participation in CFA or FP Canada events.
Courses on the Calgary campus are typically taught during the evenings and on Saturdays, though some day time teaching may be needed. Some online or hybrid teaching may also be required.
Applicants should possess an undergraduate degree in finance, as well as a graduate degree in finance or an MBA with advanced finance content. A finance designation such as the CFA or CFP would be desirable. The applicant should have significant finance work experience, and be willing and able to continue with limited ongoing finance activities in a work or volunteer context to maintain their professional competence, as well as professional development activities to maintain any professional designation. Teaching experience at the university or professional program level is desirable. A commitment to teaching excellence and engagement with students is required.
