Full-Time Faculty Lecturer Position in Computer Science at McGill University

The School of Computer Science at McGill University invites applications for an appointment as full-time Faculty Lecturer. This position is created in the context of the launch of the School’s new Masters Non-Thesis program. Priority areas align with the program’s streams: (i) computer systems; (ii) cybersecurity; (iii) software engineering (large-scale software development and deployment; (iv) cloud computing; (v) applied data science (big data analytics, databases, data mining, etc.).
The selected candidate will teach both advanced computer science courses in their area of specialization as well as introductory course, supervise term research projects, and participate in the co-development and management of the Masters Non-Thesis program. They will join a dynamic and collegial team of faculty members teaching highly talented students in a Top-35 CS department worldwide.
Candidates must have at least a graduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline and demonstrated excellence in teaching computer science at the university level. Industry experience will be considered an asset. Candidates with a strong CS education background will also be considered favorably. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
The initial appointment is for 3 years, with the possibility of re-appointment. After 6 years of continuous employment, re-appointment is for an indefinite term. Promotion can lead to a Senior Faculty Lecturer position.
The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching. They are also expected to actively participate in the School’s activities around both graduate (Masters non-thesis) and undergraduate and program administration, including the co-development and delivery of new applied courses, as well as graduate program admission, student advising and mentoring, and oversight of graduate internships. They will engage and liaise with our student bodies and work to enhance of our program’s inclusiveness and student body diversity.
