Dalhousie University’s Clinical Psychology PhD program, within the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience, Faculty of Science, is based on a scientist-practitioner model and is designed to give our graduates a thorough grounding in science, research, and clinical practice. Students are focused on research from the beginning of the program. Students also start applied training in their first year and continue throughout the program. Due to our emphasis on the science of psychology, our program produces clinical psychologists who blend the ideals of research and service.

The Clinical Psychology PhD Program is expanding its mandate through a new community-based (off-campus) psychology training clinic. The clinic will provide mental health and addictions assessment and treatment services to Nova Scotians, with particular emphasis on clients from marginalized and diverse populations. The clinic will provide clinical training opportunities for graduate students, provide Nova Scotians access to evidence-based care, and undertake research and evaluation of innovations in the provision of mental health and addictions care.

Position Title: Health Outcome Scientist & Research Innovation Lead

Overview: Reporting to the co-Directors of the psychology training clinic and the Director of Clinical Training (DCT) of the Clinical Psychology PhD program, in the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience, Dalhousie University, the Health Outcome Scientist/Research Lead will support two key activities in the clinic. 1. In collaboration with the co-Directors and DCT, the person in this role will select and/or develop, implement, collect, evaluate, and interpret clinic outcomes. The Health Outcome Scientist/Research Lead will work closely with funding partners and stakeholders to share and review key performance indicators at designated intervals. 2. The successful candidate will lead research innovation within the clinic, by establishing and evaluating collaborations with Psychology and Neuroscience faculty members and students and other researchers, developing and overseeing novel research projects within the clinic, preparing funding applications to develop and support the clinic’s research program, and contributing to research dissemination.

Required Qualifications
• Doctoral degree in mental health or mental health adjacent field (e.g., psychology, neuroscience, nursing, social work, medical education, health administration) from an accredited institution
• Training in program evaluation
• Experience with relevant quantitative and/or qualitative research methods and analytical approaches
• Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills, professionalism, and interpersonal skills
• Highly developed reasoning to solve a wide range of intellectual or practical problems and provide strategic insight on research and program evaluation initiatives
• Ability to manage multiple projects and requests in a time-sensitive and deadline-driven environment

• Demonstrated success in program evaluation and research innovation in a healthcare field
• Demonstrated success working in a team-oriented environment
• Strong record of peer-reviewed publications and funded grant applications
