Applications are sought for one Instructor for the Internetworking Program. This program is responsible for the Master of Engineering in Internetworking (MEI) of the Faculty of Engineering at Dalhousie University.

The incumbent will be required to

i) Teach in laboratory sessions, courses and workshops.
ii) Prepare and set up laboratory equipment as required to support laboratory experiments
iii) Design and Lead Software Defined Network experiments based both on Virtual Machines and Networks and physical SDN switches.
iv) Program Python script for SDN’s and IoT.
v) Design laboratory experiments based on switches and routers and wireless technologies and security equipment to support educational goals
vi) Advise Director of equipment requirement to support experiments and development
vii) Prepare and deliver training programs based on Industrial Certification materials
viii) Remain certified as instructor as required for certification training assigned by Director.
ix) Maintain documentation and infrastructure database
x) Supervise laboratory experiments and grade reports
xi) Advise and guide students with certification training
xii) Advise seminar and project students as required
xiii) Self train on new technologies outside assigned workload (VMWare, Security, API’s, Python Applications etc.)
xiv) Perform administrative duties as required.

Applicants’ qualifications must include an M.Eng. in Internetworking degree and substantial software and OS experience, and relevant industrial certification (held or in progress), experience in internetworking system design using Cisco equipment, experience with IoT equipment and in leading an IoT team, student guidance, and it is desirable to have experience in preparing tutorials on the use of modern network equipment as they pertain to the Internetworking field. Candidates should have at least three years of hands-on experience with Cisco network equipment and experience with virtual systems. This position requires a self-starter who is prepared to work as necessary, including limited evening and weekends, to ensure that the students have an excellent laboratory and educational experience.

This is a three-year limited-term appointment at 100% of full-time equivalency.
