Lecturer/Assistant Professor Limited-Term (2yr) Clinician Educator, Skin Health/Wound Care

Western University

The Faculty of Health Sciences is seeking a Clinician Educator to lead and teach in the Wound Healing field of the Advanced Health Care Practice graduate program. This appointment will be a 2-Year Limited-Term faculty position (50% of Full Time hours) at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be appointed within one of the six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders) within the Faculty of Health Sciences (, based on the applicant's professional background. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2021, or as negotiated.

The Advanced Health Care Practice graduate program is the first of its kind in Canada, offering a one-year (three term) course- based master's program for experienced health professionals to obtain graduate-level education in a clinical specialty ( This Master of Clinical Science degree program uses a variety of approaches to teaching and learning, and links advanced clinical practice to critical appraisal of research evidence and the application of knowledge to practice.

Candidates must be a health care professional with a master’s and/or doctoral degree in a related field who: 1) are registered with, or is eligible for registration with, the relevant regulatory body, if applicable; 2) has considerable clinical experience in an interprofessional, collaborative practice related to skin health/wound care; and 3) demonstrated accomplishment in the models of learning used in the Wound Healing field that include interactive remote/online teaching, onsite clinical skills labs, and competency-based evaluations. The successful applicant will show evidence of contributing to equity, diversity, and inclusion in academia and/or clinical practice. Preference will be given to candidates with previous university-based, graduate-level, teaching experience. The selected appointee will have demonstrated capability to teach current knowledge, advanced clinical skills, and evidence-informed clinical decision- making related to skin health/wound care practice. Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in skin health/wound care practice in Canada and excellent organization and interpersonal attributes will be necessary to engage many affiliated faculty and clinical instructors/mentors and attract the best and brightest applicants to the program.
