About the opportunity
The School of Health and Human Performance (HAHP) in Dalhousie’s Faculty of Health and Dalhousie’s Faculty of Management invite applications from qualified candidates for a joint appointment. The position is a three-year limited term at the Instructor or Senior Instructor rank.
The successful candidate will complement the visions of HAHP and Faculty of Management. This position will be instrumental in further developing the combined Bachelor of Science (Recreation)/Bachelor of Management dual degree. A key responsibility of this position will be reviewing curricula across the two degrees as well as proposing new certificate options. Finally, the incumbent will have the opportunity to offer leadership within the dual degree to enhance it in innovative ways.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate students in the dual degree program. The teaching assignments will include teaching a total of 4 or 5 courses across the Bachelor of Science (Recreation) at the senior level in the recreation management program and courses in the Bachelor of Management, with at least two in each of the two degrees. Experience or expertise in the topics of people management, organizational behaviour, leadership, recreation facility management and operation, and/or analysis of recreation delivery would be an asset. The candidate is expected to become an active and engaged member of both the Faculties of Health and Management, and the University and will have the primary appointment in HAHP. The successful candidate should have a PhD in a related field and experience with curriculum development is an asset.
