Postdoctoral Scholar position

Area: Heterogeneous Catalysis
Duration: 1 – 3 years
Start date: Immediate
Salary: 45,000 $CAD to 60,000 $CAD per year, negotiable based on funding, qualifications, and experience, plus University of Calgary Postdoctoral health insurance benefits

Post-doctoral position available for highly self-motivated candidates with a strong background in heterogeneous catalysis and its application in clean energy and environmental control to join the Green Catalysis Research Group (GCRG: http://ucalgary.ca/gcrg/).

Our research group is located in Calgary, the energy capital of Canada where the head office of every major oil & gas company in the country can be targeted and a fast-growing city attracting the best and brightest people in the world. While situated in such unique environment, we are granted convenient accesses to all these valuable resources beneficial for conducting our research in clean energy and environmental control. As a well behaving citizen of such scenic and vibrant city, we aim to make our own contributions to keep its leading position in Canada's energy sector through developing low-cost catalyst systems with high performance and novel catalytic processes for efficient energy utilization in an economical, renewable, and environmentally friendly way.

Qualifications:

The qualified candidates should meet the following requirements:
 Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering and related fields
 5+ years of relevant R&D or work experience in clean energy and environmental control
 Thorough knowledge and creative application of fundamental scientific and engineering principles, with strong background in catalysis and reaction engineering
 Strong background and proven track record in electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, and catalyst development for low temperature fuel cell application
 Proficient in catalyst synthesis, characterization, and performance evaluation as well as reactor system design and fabrication
 Creative problem-solving and strong critical thinking skills
 Understanding of technical and economic implications of novel process technologies on industrial processes, with cost estimation experience desirable
 Good at communicating with others and supervising junior group members
 Excellent in results dissemination in terms of project progress report, conference oral/poster presentation, invention disclosure, and peer-reviewed journal publication.
