University Canada West (UCW) is a member of Global University Systems (GUS), an international network of higher-education institutions, brought together by a shared passion for accessible, industry-relevant qualifications and graduate success.

In Canada, GUS owns and operates seven institutions – University Canada West and the Canadian College of Technology and Business in Vancouver, Toronto School of Management and Trebas Institute in Toronto and Montreal, and The Language Gallery in Vancouver and Toronto, as well as a public-private partnership between Niagara College and the Toronto School of Management.
With the pending retirement of its President & Vice-Chancellor, UCW is looking to identify its next University leader. The President & Vice-Chancellor is accountable to the Board of Governors for providing overall leadership and strategic direction to UCW. The President & Vice-Chancellor supports the Board and its mandate and is responsible for ensuring that the University operates within the policy and strategy framework established by the Board. The President & Vice-Chancellor provides advice and counsel to the Board in all matters impacting UCW and effective strategic leadership to support the University’s vision and mission, and its faculty, staff and students.
The President & Vice-Chancellor is also a member of the Canadian senior leadership team and participates in and contributes to GUS Canada Advisory Board meetings and works collaboratively with the CEO of GUS Canada and the GUS Canada leadership team. The President & Vice-Chancellor will ensure successful collaboration with the parent company and help the University maximize the shared services, resources and expertise provided by the GUS Canada ecosystem.
The ideal candidate has successful senior leadership and administrative experience gained as a Dean, Vice President or President at a well-respected post-secondary institution. They have a PhD, equivalent credential or terminal degree combined with a successful record as an educator and scholar. They bring strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to work with others to set priorities and establish strategies to move a complex organization forward. Having a passion for growing an organization, combined with strong business and technology acumen, is essential for the next leader of this for-profit post-secondary institution.
