The Faculty of Management invites applications for a tenured appointment at the rank of Full Professor and as Director of the Faculty of Management at UBC’s Okanagan campus.
We are seeking a senior academic who has achieved an international reputation for significant and high quality academic contributions. Candidates will provide evidence of undergraduate and graduate teaching excellence, preferably through student and peer assessment. Reporting to the Dean of Management, the successful candidate will provide inspiring and effective leadership in the management of the academic, curricular and faculty development components of the Faculty’s activities. The Director is also responsible for leadership of the Faculty’s undergraduate and graduate programs. The Director will support the implementation of the Faculty’s operational plan and ensure its fulfillment in all sectors of activity related to research and teaching, and educational leadership.

The Faculty of Management currently offers undergraduate, graduate and professional leadership programs, and participates fully in UBC’s interdisciplinary graduate study program. Our vision is to inform students, citizens, leaders, managers and entrepreneurs in understanding businesses and organizations from multiple perspectives, including an enduring concern for ethical conduct and the public interest. We aim to increase the innovative and creative capability of students in imagining and realizing their future, as well as the futures of others, and to have a major impact in practice on innovation and socio-economic development in different parts of the world, including the Okanagan and British Columbia Interior.
The UBC Okanagan campus is situated in one of the most scenic and appealing regions in Canada and offers faculty and students an intimate learning environment and exciting opportunities for interdisciplinary and region-centered research.
Kelowna is a growing city with a consistent annual growth rate of more than eight per cent since 1986. As the hub of the Okanagan Valley, Kelowna is burgeoning with many industries including forestry, manufacturing and the high-tech sector such as aerospace, video gaming and information technology.
Successful candidates will have a PhD in management or a relevant field and an international record of scholarly accomplishments, diverse substantive contributions to knowledge and methods of dissemination and a significant record of administrative success in a comparable environment.
The successful candidate will be expected to have demonstrated:

• The ability to develop and implement successful and innovative partnerships
• The ability to attract and motivate outstanding talent
• Active participation in relevant, established national and international networks
• The ability to lead academic initiatives to grow and develop a distinctive Faculty
• Experience with inter- and cross-disciplinary academic programs and research
• A proven aptitude for collegiality, collaboration, diplomacy and negotiation in varying contexts both within and outside a university environment
• A willingness to set an example for the Faculty by thoughtfully commenting on major issues to the broader community
• Communication skills to achieve success in this role
• The ability to motivate, empower and foster the professional development of a diverse group of people
• A strong commitment to the educational enterprise and to the University of British Columbia’s mission
