Research Facilitator

Dalhousie University

The Department of Medicine (DoM) at Dalhousie University/Nova Scotia Health in Halifax, Nova Scotia, seeks applications for a full time Research Facilitator based at the QEII Health Sciences Centre site. The DoM is comprised of 15 medical divisions, with a diverse interest in research. The Department strives for excellence in clinical care, research, and teaching.

The DoM Research Facilitator position must be flexible in their work, and able to assist multiple research groups in the Department across a variety of disciplines. The position will support data analysis, design, development of research questions, database management, research writing (grant/abstract structuring), and research navigation. The role focuses on resource navigation and consultation, project conceptualization and early research project support (concept, methodologic input) rather than detailed project implementation. The position will be expected to assist trainees (junior researchers, residents, and students).

This position is a two-year term, with possibility of renewal. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree, at minimum, in an area relevant to clinical health research. Candidates are expected to have at least 2 years of research experience in addition to their degree. Candidates are expected to have experience with diverse research methodology in quantitative research and basic statistical analyses. Experience with mixed methods and/or qualitative research methods is an asset. Prior research experience with Internal Medicine (and subspecialties) and experience with Nova Scotia Health is an asset, but not a requirement. Remuneration will be commensurate with education and experience, and this position will be part of the ACADOM group benefits plan.

Please send curriculum vitae, a two-page description of your experience with relevant research programs, methods and techniques, and the names and contact information of three referees (two of whom must be from academic backgrounds) who may be contacted for reference if required to: Dr. Melissa Andrew, c/o Heather Fraser, DoMResearch@nshealth.ca.

The application period will extend to at least September 30, 2021, and will remain open until the position has been filled.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. The Department of Medicine is committed to fostering a collegial culture grounded in diversity and inclusiveness.
