Lakehead University invites applications for one tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at the Orillia Campus. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence on August 1, 2019.
The preferred candidate will have either a PhD (or ABD with a defense date) in Social Work, or PhD in a related discipline together with an MSW degree and several years of social work practice experience, a strong research plan, a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals, and excellent teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Experience in online teaching and graduate supervision would be advantageous. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in child welfare and/or Indigenous social work. However, candidates specializing in other fields of social work practice are welcome to apply as well.
We are a small, research-active, community-involved School with an excellent undergraduate program that prepares students for generalist practice, and an MSW program that prepares students for advanced generalist practice. Our undergraduate program is offered in two formats: a four-year HBSW, and a 12-month HBSW designed specifically for students with a previous undergraduate degree.
