Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for one three-year Limited Term Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of History in the area of the History of Modern Canada. This position will commence on August 1, 2020.
The Department of History offers unique, high-quality programming emphasizing transformative, student-centred teaching, and impactful research, scholarship, and creative activities at campuses in https://www.thunderbay.ca/en/index.aspx and https://www.orillia.ca/en/index.aspx. Honours programs at the undergraduate level are enhanced by military history and public history specializations, as well as community placement opportunities for students. The Department also offers an online BA degree, and delivers courses between the Thunder Bay and Orillia campuses with the use of telepresence and video technologies. At the graduate level, the Department offers coursework, major research project, and thesis options for students registered in the MA program streams.
Qualifications: Candidates with a research program and teaching experience in any field in the History of Modern Canada will be considered, and scholars with a background in public history and/or experiential learning are especially encouraged to apply. Experience with online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the capacity to teach and supervise at the graduate level. The minimum qualifications for this position are a completed PhD in History, a record of scholarly publication, and independent teaching experience at the university level.
