Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor - Electrical and Computer Engineering

The University of Windsor’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, in the Faculty of Engineering, seeks applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing as early as September 1, 2024. Outstanding candidates may be considered at the rank of Associate Professor.

Located at one of Canada’s major international intersections, the University of Windsor, considered to be Canada’s most personal comprehensive university, plays a leading role in the future of the region and the province of Ontario. Furthermore, the Faculty of Engineering, with over 1000 undergraduate and 2500 graduate students, offers several thriving programs within the University with strong connections to the community and industry. The Faculty of Engineering is housed in the world-class Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation (CEI), which offers an excellent environment for teaching and research. The successful candidate should have an established research record in one or more of the fundamental aspects of: Communication Systems including but not limited to 6G (and beyond) Wireless Communications, Quantum Communications, RF/Microwave and Radar Signal Processing, Integrated Terrestrial and Non-terrestrial Mobile Communications, and Green Communications and Networking.

The successful candidate must have
• a PhD in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or a closely related field;
• a performance of excellence or potential for excellence for scholarly research as demonstrated by awarded grants, training of students, and scholarly output;
• a demonstrated effective teaching engagement at both the undergraduate and graduate levels;
• eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario or another Canadian equivalent licensing body, or to be eligible to apply within three years.

A successful candidate should possess outstanding leadership and communication skills, a strong commitment to service excellence, and the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Besides participating in the normal administrative, educational, and professional activities of the Department, Faculty, and University, the candidate will be expected to participate in various professional activities.

And we have strong global partnerships and commitments, which are reflected in the increasing number of graduate and undergraduate students we attract from across the world. The University of Windsor is a Canadian public, comprehensive research university enrolling over 16,000 students, including 5700 graduate students. It offers more than 280 academic programs and certificates, including 70 master’s and doctoral degrees across its nine faculties: Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Business; Education; Engineering; Graduate Studies; Human Kinetics; Law; Nursing; and Science. It also houses a medical program through the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University. Tenured and tenure-track faculty number about 600.
