About the Faculty

The Department of Kinesiology is fully invested in researching and teaching all aspects of human movement. We offer courses that allow students to create, integrate and apply knowledge from the biosciences, social sciences and humanities in the transdisciplinary study of human movement across the lifespan. We offer enriched learning experiences gained through interactions with faculty members both within and outside the traditional classroom environment. We run undergraduate and graduate programs with a Bachelor of Kinesiology, Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Bachelor of Physical Education as well as two concurrent education programs. We have approximately 1200 undergraduate and 80 graduate students in a faculty wide graduate program.

About the position

The Department of Kinesiology is seeking qualified applicants with expertise in Physical Activity and Mental Health for a probationary tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor effective JANUARY 1, 2020.

The successful applicants will be expected to teach a full course load (as assigned), during the day, evenings and/or weekends, as well as teach online. More information about the Department can be found here: https://brocku.ca/applied-health-sciences/kinesiology/







Qualifications

• The successful candidate must have a completed doctorate, an outstanding record of research productivity, teaching experience, and the potential to secure an externally-funded independent program of research. Applicants must have a commitment to service including community engagement and knowledge translation. Post-doctoral training and/or previous university teaching experience would be assets.

• The scholar filling this position will be a dynamic individual whose research expertise focuses on physical activity and mental health through at least one of the following: 1) physical activity in recovery or management of mental illness; 2) physical activity to promote mental health and well-being; or 3) physical activity to promote mental health in people living with a chronic health condition.

• The successful candidate will have strong commitment, and aptitude for, outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, the candidate will provide evidence of being able to work in a transdisciplinary environment, and ability make contributions to a vibrant environment of scholars housed within the Department, Faculty, and University that can extend to the greater Niagara Community.
