Algoma University ( has a special mission to be a teaching-oriented university that provides programs in the liberal arts and sciences, and professional programs, primarily at the undergraduate level. We have a particular focus on the needs of Northern Ontario, and a mission to cultivate cross-cultural learning between Aboriginal communities and other communities, in keeping with the history of Algoma University and its geographic site. The School of Business and Economics (SchoolBE) invites applications for a probationary tenure-track or a tenured appointment in Accounting at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (dependent upon qualifications and experience) at its Brampton campus, commencing August 1, 2019 or as negotiated. The ideal candidate will possess a PhD (Accounting) with a CPA or CPA, CA designation in good standing. Applicants with either a Master’s in Accounting or an MBA, with a CPA or CPA, CA designation will be considered. In an exceptional case, candidates with a PhD in Accounting from an accredited business school without a CPA or CPA, CA credential will be considered if the applicant is prepared to complete a CPA as a condition of ongoing employment. Experience as a full-time tenure-track or tenured university faculty member is required. Evidence of teaching effectiveness in intermediate level university business courses is required.

The successful applicant will be expected to engage in scholarship with faculty in Accounting and Business, to teach courses in these areas at the undergraduate level, and to contribute to the academic life of the School through committee service and other activities. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated depth of teaching ability in management accounting and cost accounting courses.
