The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in construction engineering and infrastructure management. We welcome applications from scholars with expertise in construction engineering and management in construction supply chain management, Building Information Modelling (BIM), optimization and decision support systems, construction circular economy, digital fabrication and construction, and/or production planning and control. Experience in modern construction methods and materials, artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics, augmented reality, and automation for construction operations is an asset. This position is part of the University of Alberta's priority to build a diverse faculty; thus, candidates from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Scholars at the University of Alberta work across disciplinary boundaries: Across the Faculty of Engineering, the University of Alberta, and local communities and industry. The successful candidate will also join or collaborate with the Hole School of Construction Engineering (HSCE).

The Role of Assistant Professor

Assistant Professors at the University of Alberta are responsible for research, teaching, and service. The successful candidate must have a PhD in construction engineering and management or a closely related field. Successful candidates will have a record of research impact, including, but not limited to, publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, developing technology or software solutions, and addressing socio-economic or environmental needs, for example. They are expected to be or become a licensed Professional Engineer through the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA, https://www.apega.ca/). Licensure must be obtained within five years from the date of hire. Teaching experience will be considered an asset as the successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in civil engineering, and contribute to the future of the department, profession, and university through service. Research, teaching, service, and volunteer work related to academia, communities, accessibility, inclusivity, and truth and reconciliation is an asset.

The Hole School of Construction Engineering

The School has helped the construction industry in Alberta improve its project and business performance by delivering cutting-edge tools and practices to construction owners, contractors, and tradespeople while providing a unique training opportunity for highly qualified personnel. Our industrial research partnerships focus on advancing research, student education, and overall practice to define the HSCE's research and graduate education programs. Our collaborative approach has garnered widespread funding from numerous agencies, policymakers, and industrial practitioners and demonstrates our value of industrial relevance and partnerships. The HSCE is home to 9 faculty members, over 15 partner companies, hundreds of graduate students, and over $3 million in annual research funding.
