Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor, French Literature

University of Winnipeg

The University of Winnipeg is a public university of approximately 10,000 students, with a focus on the liberal arts. The city of Winnipeg, the capital of the province of Manitoba, has a multi-culturally diverse population of over 700,000, with a vibrant artistic community (symphony, ballet, opera, theatre, etc.) and fine museums and galleries.

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at The University of Winnipeg invites applications for a tenure-track position in 19th Century French Literature at the Assistant Professor rank, commencing July 1, 2019, subject to budgetary approval.

The ideal candidate will have a completed Ph.D. in French Literature and a promising record of publication, native or near-native fluency in both French and English, and teaching experience at the university level. A second specialty in sociocriticism would be an asset. Courses are taught in French. Duties include teaching undergraduate courses at all levels in literature, and some language courses. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

Candidates should submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, three letters of reference, a writing sample (dissertation chapter or published article) and evidence of teaching excellence.
