Tenure-Track Position in Geometry
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McMaster University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Geometry. The expected starting date for this position is July 1, 2019.
We seek candidates with a PhD in Mathematics and a proven record of research excellence in Geometry. The priority area for this search is differential geometry/geometric analysis, though candidates working in other major areas of geometry are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will establish their own research program building on the current strengths of the department, will supervise graduate students and teach at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics currently has 33.5 full-time faculty members and a rolling average of approximately 100 graduate students and 15 postdoctoral fellows. The Geometry and Topology research group is recognized nationally and internationally for its excellence. In addition to the priority area for this search, current research interests of the group include algebraic geometry, symplectic geometry, gauge theory and geometric group theory.
