Tenure-Track Position in Physics & Physical Oceanography

The Department of Physics & Physical Oceanography invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in an area related to condensed matter physics or physical oceanography. The successful applicant will be expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program. They will also be expected to contribute to our teaching program at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department is committed to increasing diversity within the faculty complement and will provide additional mentorship and supports to the successful applicant as appropriate.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in an area related to physics or physical oceanography and at least two years post-doctoral experience along with an established track record of research in the area. Interested applicants should submit:
1) a cover letter,
2) a full CV,
3) a three-page summary of proposed research,
4) a one-page description of teaching and mentoring philosophy, and
5) a list of at least three referees with complete contact information.
All parts of the application should be submitted as a single pdf document of less than 2 MB to the Department Head’s office at dcoombs@mun.ca by no later than May 15, 2021, using the subject heading “Physics & Physical Oceanography tenure-track position”.
