Term Assistant Professor, Department of Biology

The Department of Biology at The University of Winnipeg invites motivated and enthusiastic candidates to apply for a one-year term position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Subject to budgetary approval, this position will commence August 1, 2023. Salary levels will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Biology or closely related discipline at the time of appointment. Candidates should have broad training in Biology. The selected candidate will join the Department of Biology which has sixteen tenured or tenure-track faculty members and seven Instructors. The Department offers B. Sc. and B. Sc. Honours degrees in Biology, and a M. Sc. in Bioscience, Technology and Public Policy. Applicants can learn more about the Department of Biology at https://www.uwinnipeg.ca/biology.
The successful applicant will instruct lecture and laboratory sections of Developmental Biology and Cell Biology, as well as laboratory sections of Human Anatomy and Physiology. In addition, the successful candidate will engage in research and participate in Departmental and University service.

• a curriculum vitae
• a teaching philosophy statement (one page maximum)
• a teaching dossier that demonstrates evidence of teaching effectiveness (this may include formal student evaluations of teaching and informal testimonials from students)
• a statement that describes the applicant’s experience working with a diverse student body, as well as past, present, and/or future contributions to creating/advancing a culture of equity and inclusion on campus or within the applicant's discipline (one page maximum)
• a research statement describing past research achievements and future research plans
