The Opportunity

The Accounting Department at the School of Accounting & Finance in the Ted Rogers School of Management (TRSM) is pleased to invite applications for two (2), one-year Limited Term Faculty (LTF) position at the rank of Assistant Professor in areas of financial accounting. The appointment shall be effective July 1, 2020 for a one year term, subject to final budgetary approval.

The Accounting Department consists of 11 full time RFA members. The School of Accounting and Finance offers undergraduate and graduate (Professional Master’s Diploma) programs. Our faculty prides itself on the excellence of its research and on the quality of its teaching. We are interested in candidates that will contribute to our existing teaching strengths by bringing innovative and diverse perspectives and experiences to the work.

Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University (TRSM) is developing collaborative, creative leaders who will drive 21st century business forward while making a positive impact on society. Home to 11,000+ students and more than 250 industry-connected faculty, TRSM is Canada's leading diverse, entrepreneurial business school centred in an urban learning environment. TRSM offers 12 Bachelor of Commerce degrees, a Bachelor of Health Administration degree, a Masters of Health Administration in Community Care, the Ted Rogers MBA, Professional Masters Diplomas, Executive Education courses, and a Masters of Science in Management. This position falls under the jurisdiction of the Ryerson Faculty Association (RFA) (www.rfanet.ca).

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will engage only in the teaching and service duties of faculty members in the Department, while maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across such activities. The candidate will contribute primarily to our undergraduate (BComm) program through teaching and mentoring students. Teaching responsibilities may include large lectures.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a master’s degree in accounting or a closely related field by the appointment date and be in possession of a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA).

In addition, the successful candidate must present evidence of:

- excellence in teaching through a teaching dossier that outlines the teaching philosophy, teaching accomplishments, including experience with course/curriculum review/development, excellent pedagogical practice, sample syllabi and teaching evaluations;
- strong communication skills;
- commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to teaching activities, including a demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population; and
- ability to contribute to the life of the Accounting Department and the University through collegial service.

Note: Limited Term Faculty appointments at Ryerson University may not exceed a combined total of four years. Applicants with prior Ryerson LTF appointments need to consider this limitation, as it may render them ineligible to apply.
