Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University (TRSM) is developing collaborative, creative leaders who will drive 21st century business forward while making a positive impact on society. The School of Accounting and Finance in the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University invites applications for two (2) tenure track positions in Accounting, at the Assistant Professor rank. The appointment shall be effective July 1, 2020, subject to final budgetary approval.
The Accounting Department is a dynamic group of collegial professionals who value innovative approaches to research and teaching. In the last several years, a number of our faculty have been awarded research grants from SSHRC and other external agencies. Our department has also been successful in obtaining funding from CPA Ontario. We have a burgeoning co-op program, and attract excellent students, who for the last several years have had an entrance average of approximately 88%.
This position falls under the jurisdiction of the Ryerson Faculty Association (RFA) (www.rfanet.ca).

The successful candidate will engage in a combination of teaching, research and service duties. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with other researchers and to pursue innovative and independent research program that is externally funded and produces cutting-edge, high quality research in the field of accounting.
The candidate will contribute to teach at the undergraduate level and assist with curriculum development as it pertains to the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) Competency Map. The candidate will engage in maintaining an inclusive, equitable, and collegial work environment across all activities.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in accounting. Candidates who are all-but-dissertation (ABD) and are very close to completion in the field of accounting may also be considered. Candidates from all areas of accounting are welcome.
In addition, the successful candidate must present evidence of:
- a strong research profile (e.g., evidence of an emerging scholarly record, ability to establish and maintain an independent, externally funded research program);
- high-quality teaching and student training,
- strong communication and expository skills and a demonstrated ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate students;
- commitment to our values of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as it pertains to service, teaching, and scholarly research or creative activities, including a demonstrated ability to make learning accessible and inclusive for a diverse student population; and
- capacity for collegial service.
Preference will be given to candidates with a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA).
