Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for one Tenure-Track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Department of Visual Arts in 3-Dimensional Studio Practices. The qualified candidate will hold a PhD in Studio Art/Research Creation or an MFA in Studio Art/Research Creation. Candidates must demonstrate an active studio research practice through exhibitions, awards, publications, curation or other artistic projects. The candidate will be expected to maintain an active professional art practice, support undergraduate capstone projects, teach courses at the undergraduate level, and fully participate in departmental, faculty, university and community service roles. The successful candidate will teach introductory to advanced courses in sculpture. Additional courses may include: Indigenous Studio Practices, Art Fundamentals, New Media, Printmaking and Drawing.

Department of Visual Arts
Visual Arts offers several undergraduate degree programs focused on studio art training with an emphasis on developing technical and conceptual skills that are necessary to succeed as a professional artist. Concurrent Programs in Visual Arts and Education also offer pathways for students interested in teaching at the elementary and secondary school levels. Program majors explore a range of undergraduate courses in studio art, art history and professional practices. Core areas include: drawing, painting, ceramics and sculpture.
